Our Approach

Apex Academy is not designed to be traditional tutoring.

Every program is built around structure, accountability, and targeted progression. Students are not simply given more work — they are guided through a system that identifies weaknesses, reinforces core concepts, and develops the skills needed for consistent high performance.

The goal is not short-term improvement, but long-term mastery and confidence in mathematics and science.

What's Included

1. Diagnostic Assessment & Custom Strategy
Every student begins with a detailed diagnostic to identify strengths, gaps, and highest-impact areas. We build a focused plan around each student's target score and test date.
2. Structured Curriculum (All ACT Math Topics)
Algebra, functions, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and number properties — covered systematically, with each session building on the last for deep retention.
3. Targeted Practice & Homework
Weekly homework is selected based on each student's weak areas and current focus topics — efficient, relevant, and tied to measurable progress.
4. Timing & Test-Taking Strategy
How to pace yourself, which questions to skip and return to, how to eliminate wrong answers efficiently — the strategic layer most prep courses skip entirely.
5. Full-Length Practice Tests & Analysis
Three timed, full-length practice tests reviewed in detail to identify error patterns, track score improvement, and adjust strategy going into the real test.
6. Weekly Progress Reports for Parents
Parents receive a written update each week covering what was covered, how the student performed, and what to focus on before the next session.

What's Covered

1. Functions & Their Behavior
Function notation, domain and range, composition, inverses, and transformations — the foundation for every calculus concept that follows.
2. Polynomial & Rational Functions
Graphing, end behavior, zeros, and asymptotes — built for genuine fluency, not just formula recall.
3. Exponential & Logarithmic Functions
Properties, solving equations, graphing, and real-world modeling. These appear constantly in calculus and most students arrive underprepared.
4. Trigonometry
Unit circle mastery, trig functions, identities, and equation solving. Students leave knowing trig well enough to handle it instantly in calculus.
5. Limits & Calculus Preview
An introduction to limits and the concept of the derivative — giving students a meaningful head start before their AP Calc course begins.
6. Diagnostic & Parent Updates
Students start with a diagnostic to identify gaps. Parents receive written progress updates each week throughout the bootcamp.

What's Covered

1. Cell Biology & Biochemistry
Cell structure and function, membrane dynamics, enzymes, ATP, cellular respiration, and photosynthesis — the metabolic core of AP Biology.
2. Genetics & Heredity
Mendelian genetics, pedigrees, probability, DNA replication, transcription, translation, and an introduction to gene regulation.
3. Evolution & Natural Selection
Darwin's theory, evidence for evolution, population genetics (Hardy-Weinberg), speciation, and phylogenetics.
4. Ecology & Systems
Ecosystems, energy flow, nutrient cycles, population dynamics, and human impact — often the most heavily tested area on the AP exam.

About the Founder

Hi, I'm Alexa — founder of Apex Academy. I graduated from Yale in 3 years with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, competed as a Division I athlete, conducted research at Stanford, and am beginning my PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech.

Throughout my academic journey, I saw that capable students consistently underperformed — not from lack of ability, but from lack of structure, strategy, and the right instruction. Apex Academy was built to change that.

Yale B.S. in Biomedical Engineering
Graduated in 3 years with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and a Spanish Certificate.
Stanford Researcher
Preparing a first-author publication for submission to Cell.
Electrical & Computer Engineering PhD — Georgia Tech
Incoming PhD student at Georgia Tech, researching medical wearable devices, hardware/firmware, and ML signal processing.
Former Division I Athlete
Competed at the Division I level while maintaining an elite academic record — proof that the discipline and systems that Apex Academy is built on actually work.
National Merit Finalist
  • Scored a 34 on the ACT as a freshman
  • Self-taught AP Calculus at 13 — earned a 5 on the AP exam
  • Scored As in Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations as a high school sophomore at the University of Cincinnati
  • Studied virtually through middle and high school
